Volunteer Opportunities
The Raleigh Tennis Association is a non-profit organization whose success depends on the help and support of our volunteers. Whether you are a teen looking for volunteer hours, an active tennis player looking to support your favorite sport, or even a non-playing tennis fan, we have opportunities for you to help. In addition to support needed at events and tournaments, we also need volunteers to sit on our board and volunteer committees to help execute the mission of the RTA.
Board Member
The Raleigh Tennis Association is always seeking great local talent to join our Board of Directors. The Board of Directors manages the association. It makes all important decisions for the organization, including establishment of the annual budget and approval of capital projects.
If elected to the Board of Directors, you are expected to attend the Board meetings (we have 6 per year). Our bylaws require a simple majority of voting Board members to constitute a quorum, and they may vote in person or by proxy. We need to be certain we can achieve a quorum at each Board meeting or no vote can be called until the next meeting.
RTA does recommend that our Board members also volunteer to serve on one or more committees. The committees are vital to our association and undertake both operational and project-related activities.
The Board of Directors is comprised of 10 elected members, including the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Terms are two years and are volunteer positions.

Committee Member
We ask that committee members commit to a one-year term, attend approximately one meeting per month (currently all meetings are virtual), and complete committee tasks (typically via email). Board members are asked to commit to a two-year term, attend virtual board meetings every other month (January, March, May, July, September), sit on at least one committee, and volunteer to help at events and activities. Tennis Ambassador
Do you have what it takes to be a RTA Tennis Ambassador? Do you live and breathe everything tennis? Then apply here! Tennis Ambassadors are an essential part of how RTA operates. They are volunteers that assist in RTA programs, clinics and tournaments. Tennis ambassadors encompass all ages, genders and ability levels and use their word of mouth method to get the word out on all tennis opportunities.

Fundraising Committee
A standing committee that works with the Executive Director to raise money for RTA programs & initiatives through grants and by soliciting donations, sponsorships, and gifts from corporations, organizations, and individuals, and through executing fundraising events.
Special Events & Volunteer Committee
A standing committee that works with the Executive Director to plan, direct, and secure volunteer resources for social events relating to programs, leagues, and various tournaments associated with RTA activities.
Adult Tennis Committee
A standing committee that works with the Executive Director and Local League Coordinators to identify and pursue initiatives, activities, and events to promote and grow adult tennis participation.
Junior Committee
A standing committee that works with the Executive Director and JTT Coordinator to identify and pursue initiatives, activities, and events to promote and grow youth tennis participation and programming.
Finance & Investment Committee
A standing committee that recommends, implements, and ensures compliance with investment policy for RTA non-operational funds to facilitate long-term initiatives within the RTA’s mission.
Court Advocacy Committee
A standing committee with the responsibility of working to get more tennis courts within Raleigh for public use.
